challenge is to keep an open heart an eye

to stop passing it on, start to make a better life
for neighbours, friends, family and
fellow animals we make cry and die
we have the means to give it our best try

howling voices every moment of day and night
tell us how our hearts can feel right
it’s not the sun that blinds our sight
systematic righteousness shines far too bright

done with trying to live those old lies
so society thinks that we’re alright
it hurts like dying all the time
ways chosen to be hurt and hurt other lives

listen to ourselves is all we need to do
no more greedy plans we tried to live up to
still no profound improvements to show for
following consciousness long overdue

neglecting true feelings for fake plans of life
who stole our compass from deep inside
searchin‘ everywhere only hierarchy insight
that riddle can’t be solved by a solitary mind

no mere symptom-fix will make us find
our way back home, the truth enshrined
letting go of all head and ruler’s force
following breadcrumbs back to our source

no more pretending to care about nonsense
not cool at all living carefree and playful
full of ourselves, disconnected and senseless
resulting pain too hurtful, damage too immense

now that we’ve unwrapped that long stored gift
what are we going to do about it?
hurt, hide, conform, ignore some more?
or get up ‘n together – fight, learn ‘n explore!?

I need to breath air, I need to care
learn ‘n live, really love, truly give
I need to eat, keep save ‘n warm
drink ‘n sleep, but I don’t need harm!

loss is loss, felt same by any living being
pain is pain, not only for human beings
feeling is a feeling, stop fleein’ start freeing
freedom’s in our hearts, start universal healing

our own suffering deepens with every
cruelty we inflict on our fellow animals
our own happiness deepens with every
kindness we extend on our fellow animals

finding hidden deeds under canopy of dreams
transforming global war on life to universal streams
much more than just prisons shared with all souls
interspecies empathy – our collective goals

we’re all kind’a the same on this big round animal farm
we’re all exactly the same on this feelin‘ livin‘ planet
we can move from destructive roaming to healing with it
we’re all deeply the same on this still hurtin‘ moving home

Mind unbound, life’s purpose found, no more loss to bear.
Nature’s laws, our home we build, with universal care.
True well-being blossoms, shared with every being there.
Caring for all and ourselves all the time and everywhere.
